The Fury Of The Northmen

Angry Corpse (B,U)

ᚱᛖᛁᛞᚱ ᛞᚱᛖᚾᚷᚱ

“Orcneas” (“Hell corpses”). The great majority of
the people in the Four Kingdoms are Christians and
are devout, or at least attempt to be. So, they believe
in certain things (all is as God wills it, only the
faithful go to Heaven, etc) and try—very hard—to
disbelieve in certain things, such as the triumph of
evil on Earth. One of the things that the Christians of
the Four Kingdoms would desperately like to disbelieve in are the angry corpses, the bodies of dead men and women that are brought back to an unholy kind of unlife by necromantic magic or through the most cruel of curses.

Although the Angelcynn of the Four Kingdoms
are mostly Christian, they are also Angelcynn, and
share with the Vikings the belief that the dead are
just the living housed in corpses, with the same
personality and abilities. This is why angry corpses
are so distressing to the men and women of the Four
Kingdoms: the angry corpses are furious with the
living—even with family members and loved ones—
and seem to want nothing more than to kill them.

Angry corpses look exactly like one would expect
an animated dead body to look like. Their expressions are usually contorted into snarls.

Undead Fortitude. If damage reduces an
angry corpse to 0 hit points, it must make a
CON saving throw (spell save DC 5 + the
damage taken). On a success, the zombie
drops to 1 hit point instead. If the damage
is radiant, the angry corpse cannot make the
saving throw.

ACTIONS

Bite: Melee Weapon Attack: +3 to hit, reach
5 ft, one creature. Hit: 5 (1d6+1) piercing
damage, and the target must make a DC
12 CON saving throw or be infected with
the corpse rot disease. Corpse rot inflicts 3
necrotic damage every hour; if the victim dies
from corpse rot, they rise 24 hours later as an
angry corpse.

A creature affected by corpse rot may make an
additional saving throw every hour to end the
effect.

Slam: Melee Weapon Attack: +3 to hit, reach
5 ft, one creature. Hit: 5 (1d6+1) bludgeoning
damage.

MOTIVES

Brains! Flesh! Rend, eat!

ALLIES

Angry corpses rarely appear by themselves. More
usually they are in packs, whether on their own or
summoned by something more powerful.
